Chairmans Column
My apologies for how long it has been since this column was last updated. My new years resolution will be to update it on a regular basis.
As we come to the end of 2008 we are in good shape to challenge on many fronts across all ages in 2009.The seniors are well placed in the league, are in the 4 round of the intermediate cup and the last 16 of the munster senior cup.The munster junior league juniors have been in a cup final all ready, are in the open draw in the munster junior cup and should comfortably stay in the premier junior league. Our AUL juniors are sitting well in the league for a push on the league in the new year. The 35’s have a 100% record so far and hopefully they will go a step further than last year so all in all we are in a very strong position in the adult side of the club.
On the underage side our 17’s are sitting well up the table and only for a cruel run of bad luck with injuries could well be challenging for the title. Our schoolboys are doing well as usual with all of our premier teams holding their own with the 13’s hopefully going to be only the 3 team in the history of the club to win a premier league title. We are very confident of having plenty of trophies to celebrate come the summer.
Our fundraising continues to go well and is very much needed. We are coming to a close on our second “Last man standing” and it is proving a great source of interest to everyone.I would like to thank everyone for the continued support of both our teams and our fundraising. It is vital to us and we really do appreciate it.
To finish I would like to wish all our club members and friends and their families a very happy Christmas and a peaceful new year.
Bernard.
